Object Description
Kangxi – Chinese early 18th century – pear shaped bottle vase with a bulbous section on the neck often referred to as a garlic neck. Made at the kilns at Jingdezhen c1700. Excellent colour and painting.
The painting shows petal and leaf shaped panels which filed with scrolling lotus flowers on blue ground.
The main part of the body painted with alternating panels of groups of auspicious items associated with the elite scholars including Ruyi head sceptres, Dings and vases. The ‘garlic’ section of the neck is painted with cracked ice pattern
The vase would have been a very difficult to pot and there is no firing blemishes or off potting
