Object Description
Chinese early 18th century blue and white dish made for the export market. The shape is referred to as Klapmuts or Klapmutsen as the rim is turned out and flat so enabling the European to rest their spoon on it.
The dish is painted in panels to the outside with either flowering tree peonies issuing from rockwork with grasses or scholars items including jardinières of flowers and scrolls.
The centre is painted with tree peonies grasses and hollow rock.
The underside is also well painted with ruyi headed shaped ‘clouds’ and tendrils of flowers
Jade mark to the base showing that it was considered a fine piece
