Object Description
Kangxi early 18th century Chinese blue and white porcelain bottle vase with replacement silver lid and mounts in the Islamic style.
Painted in the style much in demand in Europe although in Islamic style. The sides are painted with four large Lotus head flowers with a band below of scrolling flower heads .
Although associated with Buddhism it is also one of the symbols of the Confucian gentleman. As the white lotus flower grows in mud but blooms white it is associated with purity and beauty and is the emblem of summer as that is when the blooms are at their peak.
Excellent colour and potting. it was made at the kilns at Jingdezhen and exported c1700 to the west.
The silver mounts have been added at a later date. 25.25cm tall
