Object Description
Chinese early 18th century Blue and White small lidded jar made during the reign of the Emperor Kangxi at Jingdezhen for export to Europe – Holland. Excellent colour an potting
The body is lightly moulded into panels which are painted with Long Elizas – standing ladies – or jardinières of flowering plants. Around the shoulder it is painted with Daoist signs below a band of curling waves. It has the Yue or Jade mark to the base.
The silver band to the lid and top of neck has the dagger hallmark for 19th Century Dutch silver and may have been added to give added security to the lid or to cover blemishes.
