Chinese early 18th century blue and white porcelain vase and wooden cover. excellent larger size than many with good decoration although the wooden cover is a replacement it is well carved and in good condition.
It is painted with four panels separated by a floral border of flower heads and broad band. each panel is painted with items associated with the scholar either from his table or with flowering jardinières.
Below the neck a large lappet shaped border with reserved painting of flowers on a blue back ground occupies the shoulder. Around the base there is a geometric design below leaf shaped panels with stylized lotus heads and flowers.
Overall a good piece, although a little darker than some it is a good even colour
size includes the lid 24.25cm
