Object Description
Chinese late 17th century famille verte brush pot / bitong made at Jingdezhen during the reign of the Emperor Kangxi. Brush pots were the items of status for the scholar and occupied a prominent position on his table.
Excellent potting of a rare shaped famille verte brush pot which is decorated in overglaze enamels of yellow, aubergine and green with a burnt orange coloured paint
The painting is a narrative scene that shows scholars and officials visiting court officials in a terraced garden setting along with their horse.
