Object Description
Chinese early 18th century blue and white plate made during the reign of the Emperor Kangxi. Excellent colour and painting.
The painting to the font shows a writhing four toed dragon with the flaming pearl, the source of all wisdom, amongst lightning bolts and clouds all inside a double circle.
The rim or cavetto is painted with a turbulent foaming sea with flower heads and demi heads.
The underside is painted with Buddhist emblems underneath the rim and to the base a double circle around a six character Xuande mark. this is a less common mark to the base.
