Object Description

An Exceptionally Rare Mid 18th Century English Elm
Farmhouse Kitchen Dining Table Having Superbly Figured
Plank Top With Cleated Ends Raised On Square Legs And
Stretchers, Retaining Rich, Untouched, Colour
And Patina Throughout

(It is extremely rare to find English 18th Century variations
of the traditional farmhouse table still on the market these
days, most that you see are 19th Century and French, and
it is even rarer to find one in such excellent untouched condition
that can boast such beautiful warm colour and patina. The top
has cleated ends which is a design used to try and ensure that the
planks do not move too much, which has been a successful theory

remain firmly together. The size is perfect to seat 10 and the rustic type
elm top very much lends itself to actually being used, as opposed to
just admired, like so many of the more formal mahogany or rosewood
dining tables which we tend to find. It really is a
quite spectacular, rarely found table which is perfect for hours of

Is it obvious that this table is a personal favourite of mine and that if I
had a kitchen, or dining room, remotely big enough that I would of
snapped it up to live with and use for many, many years to come by now!)
