This is a superb antique Georgian hallmarked sterling silver snuff box engine turned with rounded corners measuring 3 1/2″ (9 cms) x 2 1/2″ (6.5 cms) x 1 1/2″ (4 cms) high.
It opens and closes perfectly with a good strong hinge and the interior is in very good condition with the original gilding inside.
It’s hallmarked for London 1822 with the silversmiths mark for Thomas Edwards.
Inside the lid is inscribed ‘George Dillwyn, the gift of his Aunt, J. Dillwyn and it has an armorial crest on the lid.
It weighs 238 grams which gives you some idea of the quality and the whole item is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs .
