Object Description
This very large antique partners desk measures 72 inches by 56 inches. It is made from good quality red walnut, a timber similar in colour to mahogany.
The desk has recently benefitted from professional restoration which includes French polishing and a replacement black writing leather.
The top is fitted with three drawers to either side and an additional three drawers to each pedestal front.
The reverse of the pedestals have cupboards with a removable shelf.
The pedestals have plinth bases with hidden castors.
All drawers are walnut lined with hand cut dovetail joints and the original brass locks (one replacement).
The drawer fronts have cock-beaded edges and turned wooden knobs.
As with most large pedestal desks it is constructed in three sections, top and two pedestals, for ease of installation.
This antique partners desk is easily able to accommodate two people having a depth of 4 foot 8 inches (142 cm) and can be set up with all drawers to one side or drawers and a cupboard to both sides.
