Object Description
This large (60” wide) antique desk has been made from oak carefully selected for its beautiful figuring. The desk has recently been professionally restored using traditional methods and material to enhance its beauty. It has been French polished and wax polished which has brought out the colour and the figuring of the timber.
The top is fitted with an antique style burgundy leather writing surface with gilt and blind tooling to the border. This is surrounded by a band of well figured oak with a “thumb moulded’ edge.
The top is fitted with three drawers and each of the pedestals has three draws. All drawers have oak linings with the original brass locks and key. The drawer fronts have ogee mouldings and turned wooden knobs.
The the desk come apart in three sections, top and pedestals, for ease of transportation. The pedestals also have plinth bases with hidden brass casters for ease of movement.
This very attractive antique desk is in good condition and ready to be used in home study or office.
