Object Description

This large armorial George III silver tea caddy was made in London in 1785 by Thomas Chawner and measures 6 inches in length by 4.5 inches wide and is 4.25 inches tall. It has a coat of arms with crest above to the front inside an oval engraved cartouche and is bright cut engraved to the body and the hinged lid. It is fully hallmarked under the base and has the incuse head monarchs head and is marked inside the lid with the lion passant. The added benefit is the lock is intact and it has the original key so it is lockable, a nice quality caddy in good condition weighing 16.10 ounces or 501 grams.
