A large pair of cast brass Travel Candlesticks, also known as Brighton Buns. This model is an earlier standard design and it is elevated above the similar model which does not have a moulded edge. What is exceptional about this pair of candlesticks is the diameter of the dishes with most others a quarter to an inch smaller. One sconce has a screw fitting whilst the other has the female section. The same is true of the 2 dishes, meaning that when the sconces are removed, they can be packed into one dish with the other screwed on top to form a bun shaped container for ease of travel. Early to mid 19th Century.
