Object Description

A blue and white glazed ceramic beaker vase. The decoration on the vase is divided into two panels, displaying rockwork with peach blossom and rockwork with daisies. Underneath, the panels are framed by a band of curved motifs and two rings. Near the rim are painted two medallion decorations with peony and chrysanthemum surrounded by foliage, which are connected to auspicious clouds. The inside of the rim is embellished with a geometric band design.

Date: Late 17th century AD
Period: Kangxi Period, Qing Dynasty

Object History

From the ‘Blue Chrysanthemum Wreck’; lost in the South China sea, late 17th Century A.D., recovered 2014.

Object Condition

Fine condition. Some dulling of glazed surfaces due to seawater exposure. Small areas of discoloration may be visible.
