Object Description

An impressive antique sterling silver tankard with baluster form on a spreading foot. The broad curved handle has strapwork decoration to the top, a geometric tail piece at the bottom and hand engraved initials. Unusual large size. Good proportions and excellent colour. Contains 950 ml. Weight 550 grams, 17.1 troy ounces. Height 15 cms. London 1774. Maker William Grundy.

Object Condition

This handsome silver mug is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. The silver marks are crisp and easy to read. The engraved initials are contemporary with the mug. Excellent colour. Uninscribed. There are a few tiny dinks and one small dent (see photo) to the body. There are some dents on top of the handle (see photo).

Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
