A large pair of French superb quality 19th century bronzed spelter figures in the form of 16th century warriors in full armour and draped cloaks, each with flambeaux aloft.
Each warrior is holding a flambeau, not electrified at present (but could be electrified), each with a sword and superb helmet and armour.
Each figure stands on a decorative base, each of these being stamped with the ‘Fabrication Francaise’ Paris foundry mark.
This foundry mark is often found on high quality French bronze or spelter figures. This company was first known of in 1892 and typically cast in spelter rather than bronze, the pieces then finished with a patina to replicate a bronze casting.
These castings are of very fine & intricate quality & have a brown patination that do have a bronze appearance.
There is evidence of an old repair to an arm of one of the figures but this is not really visible.
Other than this both figures and in very good condition and make superb decorative pieces.
