Leather covered wooden casket with ironwork, French circa 1600

Object Description

Slightly domed wooden casket covered in the original leather with stamped decoration and with decorative iron hinges, straps, handle, escutcheon and lock plate. France, late 16th/early 17th century. The interior later lined with a woven silk fabric.
