Louis XV style gilt bronze mounted porcelain mantel clock

This stunning Rococo style mantel clock features a parcel gilt porcelain and gilt bronze body. Raised on a flared gilt bronze base, the rounded-top porcelain clock case features a circular dial painted with a Rococo style scene of putti and numbered with Roman numerals. Below the dial, the front of the case features a beautiful Louis XV style painted scene of young lovers in a country landscape. The porcelain case is surmounted by a large porcelain urn-form finial, itself parcel gilt and mounted with gilt bronze and, strikingly, set to the front with a painted medallion. The case is mounted to each side with scrolled, foliate gilt bronze handles.
