Object Description

This very nice quality crested early George I Britannia silver 2 handled cup was made in London in 1714 by David Kilmaine (Very rare maker appearing in Grimwades stating very few items found with his mark) and measures 5.25 inches tall by 8.25 inches handle to handle and is 5 inches in dia across the top and 3 3/8 inches in dia across the foot, it stands on a stepped pedestal foot with the body having a girdle around the centre above which is a crest within a florid cartouche and the engraved name IOHN HARDY. It has a hard shaped handle either side and is fully hallmarked to the side, a lovely cup with a great colour and feel to it in very good condition weighing 19.75 ounces or 614 grams.
