Object Description

This very nice quality pair of large George III silver goblets were made in London in 1805 by Naphthali Hart and measure 6.75 inches tall by 4 inches in dia across the tops and almost 4 inches across the base. The base rims are gadrooned and the trumpet feet lead up into the main body of the goblet which has an engraved and ribboned cartouche that bears the original inscription – He who is happy in his friends and makes them happy too pursues the life it’s truest ends and brightens every view to such a one these cups are sent for temperate employ and may each potion give content each object social joy. Dec 20th 1805.
To the other side they have the flowing initials of WFC and the insides retain a pale lemon gilding, a very nice pair of goblets in very good condition weighing 20.70 ounces or 645 grams.
