Object Description

A finely decorated Luristan ceremonial cast bronze macehead featuring a tubular shape. The upper half is decorated with three vertical columns of six small button knobs, alternating with three columns of interlacing loops. The bottom half of the shaft is smooth, with an incised band around the base. The very end of the macehead features a slightly flared rim.

Date: Circa 1200-800 BC

Ex. London Collection, formed between 1990 – present.

Object Condition

Fine condition. Patination and earthly encrustations to the surface.
