An extremely fine and substantial Luristan bronze sword featuring a long triangular blade with a prominent midrib and sharp straight edges. The cylindrical hilt is incised with triangular motifs which continue across the guard. A pronounced disc sits midway with seven raised circular bands underneath further enriching the hilt. The grip swells into a large spherical pommel which balances the weight of the weapon. Two raised bands feature on its neck and five vertical ridges extend from the shoulder to the base. A hole is pierced where the vertical bands meet indicating the presence of an additional decorative attachment, which is now lost. A beautiful green and brown patina remains to the surface of the sword.
