Object Description
Blue and white 16th century Ming bottle vase. Excellent colour and detail in the painting.
The decoration shows two birds with flowering plants, foliage and rockwork. From the rim there are trailing leaves and branches. the colour is bright and the painting very good
As is typical of this shape from this period there are firing flaws, a slightly off potting of the neck which is visible from one side and in a few areas the luting lines are slightly discoloured.
Pieces of this shape were made in various sections and then joined together before painting and glazing these joins are known as luting.
