Object Description
Ming blue and white Kraak porcelain flared slightly moulded small bowl often called ‘Crow Cups’ as often it is a crow like bird painted to the inside at the bottom. this small bowl though has a perched Dipper, the water bird.
a rare small ‘crow cup’ as often these are larger and the small ones are from the late 16th century c1595.
painted to the outside with panels of foliage, or a dipper in aquatic plants or seated scholars on a rocky river promontory.
It is a very well potted and painted rare bowl of excellent quality and subject matter.
made at Jingdezhen for export to Europe, more specifically the Netherlands, it is painted very much in the Chinese taste.
