Object Description
This exceptional and very large (7ft 3 inches) French gilt-bronze chandelier has a massive central cut-glass baluster stem ,a Vase-d’enfilade’, and is surrounded by an undulating pear-shaped cage frame with two tiers issuing 18 candles, each with drip pans in the form of flower heads. The cage is surmounted by by a corona made up of 18 arms hang with facetted prisms and its own baluster. The chandelier is hung overall with large facetted flat scalloped prisms, flower head drops and facetted obelisks, and terminates in a huge cut crystal ball. The sheer number of facetted crystals, probably of Baccarat manufacture, allows it to appear like a jewel.
