This antique Syrian dressing table is crafted from carefully carved walnut, featuring Moorish style geometric patterns and ivory, mother of pearl, and ebony inlays. The table is set on four outwardly splaying carved walnut legs, which are supported by ebony mounted stretchers with carved wooden grill details and ebony, ivory and mother of pearl geometric inlays. The dresser’s table can be opened to reveal a central mirror with twin red velvet panels either side, each of which contains an ivory fleur de lys to the centre with ivory arabesques above and below. The interior of the table contains a number of walnut partitions. The exterior panel of the tabletop features ivory inlays in a geometric star-shaped pattern, set within a border of interlocking ebony and ivory inlays. This is an extremely ornate piece and a fine example of the Moorish style.
