Object Description

This nice quality Queen Anne Britannia silver porringer was made in London in 1706 by John Cory and measures 6.5 inches handle to handle by 3.5 inches tall and is 4.5 inches in dia across the top, it has cast scrolled handles either side with graduated bead detailing and to the body there is spiral fluting to the bottom third leading into and engraved band with a further two either side of the raised ropework to the top third – there is an engraved cartouche to the front surrounded by scroll work and fish scale engraving bearing the pin pricked initials of MC below the date of 1706. It is fully and clearly hallmarked to the side and is in very good condition weighing 6.65 ounces or 207 grams.
