Pair of Antique Venetian Baroque Period Gilt Copper Bowls

This rare pair of 17th Century Venetian bowls were exquisitely crafted from gilt copper and feature fine engraved surface decoration. Each bowl is formed in a squat circular shape, tapering to the narrow foot at the bottom. They are hammered to shape and feature elegant scrolling engraved detailing in the Renaissance and Baroque styles, which is further accentuated with black niello in the lines of the engravings. A lion head can be seen at the bottom of each bowl, symbolising the city of Venice.
