Object Description

Each depicting a young male figure holding aloft a torch, on a pair of faux marble pedestals decorated with masks.

The company of A. Durenne, maître de forges, was established in 1847 by Antoine Durenne at Sommevoire. Their catalogues of 1877 and 1889 illustrate the firm’s high-quality cast-iron fountains, sculpture, urns and other embellishments that were produced. Antoine Durenne was a founding member of the L’Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs.
