Object Description
An exquisitely decorated pair of late 18th or early 19th century English gilt and cobalt porcelain pedestal sweetmeat or cake stands.
A stamp on the base from the esteemed early 20th century New York antique department, Plummer & Co. reads – Wm Plummer & Co., New York City, Antique Dept./Colebrooke/Period 1815.
Gilded in the manner of Chamberlain Royal Worcester but more probably a finer Coalport & Coalbrookdale piece with finely painted floral panels possibly by William Billingsley. Otherwise this pair bear no makers mark. The Condition is excellent with fine bright gilding, detailed trellis work and delicate foliate swags with gilt dentil border. The painted floral panels are also extremely fine. Each piece comprises of three tiers culminating in a painted gilt handled urn. H 30.5 x D 23 cm.
