Pair of Glazed Antique Laundry Sinks

Dating from the late 19th century, this pair of antique laundry sinks are a fashionable addition to a country house kitchen or farmhouse utility room. Made up of 6 components, this set includes 2 large deep stoneware sinks and 4 fluted pedestals.

Each sink is over 140 years old and was likely once used as a handy, wide slop sink for washing laundry and other items. Today, these antique sinks are a stylish addition to kitchens and utilities period and modern. They can be used together to create one wide trough style sink unit or alternatively, the pair can be split and used as two matching sinks in a scheme. Removed from a country house near Edinburgh, Scotland.

Object Condition

Good structural condition. Wear and chips to the glaze. Made up of 6 separate components (4 pedestals and 2 sinks). The two centre pedestals have holes for pipes, one of which has been crudely enlarged to fit pipework. The outer ends of the sinks were originally built into walls and as such have painted ends rather than enamel. Hairline crack in right hand basin.
