Pair of large glass and gilt bronze vases in the Neoclassical style
French, 20th Century
Height 146cm, diameter 60cm
This magnificent pair of Neoclassical style vases is wrought from gadrooned glass and exceptional gilt bronze mounts.
Each vase is supported by a square gilt bronze base with canted corners, moulded extensively with acanthus leaves, tassels, draped fabric, floral swags, and a coat of arms in the middle. The glass vases that sit on each base are of ovoid form, with a waisted socle and slender neck, topped by a domed glass lid. On either side of the vases are acanthus leaf handles that gradually form further acanthus leaves and a floral garland at the front and back.
