These grand and impressive vases will make a bold interior statement, thanks to the beautiful, bright malachite veneer that gives them their rich green colouration. Each vase stands at roughly half a metre in height and features impressively-cast gilt bronze mounts.
The two vases are set on square malachite bases with pinched socles above. Their bodies are ovoid in shape and each one is mounted around the centre with a gilt bronze band, decorated in relief with shells, scrolls, and laurel swags. Perhaps the most impressive and artistic elements of the vases, however, are the twin eagle-form ormolu handles that are mounted at the sides of each vase. The vases are surmounted by lids, each further embellished with a gilt bronze finial in the form of a flame.
The vases date from the 19th Century, with the malachite veneer being a later addition.
