Object Description
Pair of porcelain Rococo and Meissen style Schneeballen vases
German, late 19th Century
Dimensions: Height 48cm, width 40cm, depth 32cm
Crafted in the Meissen style, this pair of porcelain vases are of ovoid form. They are profusely decorated with tiny delicate porcelain white flowers. There are also sphere like mounts with similar blue flowers and green vines, upon which perch multi-coloured birds. Each vase features scrolled and pierced Rococo style handles, which are delicately painted with pale pinks, greens, and gilt detailing. The style of vase is traditionally known as Schneeballen in German, which translates to ‘Snowball’.
The vases are marked to the underside with Meissen blue crossed swords.
