Object Description
Standing at nearly one metre tall, this large pair of Sèvres style vases—dark, cobalt blue ground with Rococo style motifs and scrolling forms all over—would make a wonderful decorative element in a modern luxury home. The body of each vase features gilt decorative motifs on a dark Sèvres-blue ground, with a central cartouche on the front and the reverse, each showing a still life scene of a bouquet of flowers inside a basket on a table, on white porcelain ground. The vases are also mounted with gilt bronze, in the form of a laurel wreath at the base, and in the form of foliage and a pine-cone finial on the lid. The parcel gilt porcelain handles either side of each vase take the form of a scrolling acanthus leaf with a laurel wreath draped around it.
Each vase is painted to the underside with the double-L mark of the Sèvres Porcelain Factory in France.
