A lovely blue Pataikos amulet. Pataikos is shown crudely rendered with clenched fists held in front of his stomach. On the reverse, there is a hole for suspension.
Pataikos was a protective god who was often worn around the neck, as is the case with this item. The god was a dwarf and in ancient Egypt, dwarfs were a part of both religious and court life, sometimes achieving relatively high status.
Circa Late Period, 664-332BC
