Object Description
This original skyscape painting by Sonia Bukhgalter evokes the comfort exerienced in observing the clouds. In this scene there is a sense of vastness which is highly provocative. Between impressions of cloud formations composed luxuriously onto a gilded surface, a reflection on the physical and spiritual world emerges, creating a beguiling atmosphere to view. Demonstrating the techniques she learnt as a gilder in Florence, the artist features gold which allows her to emphasise a notion of a dimension of divinity. The piece eloquently relises a contemporary style, whilst also enfused with traditional artisan and ancient techniques, producing an expression of a modern fresco. The image lends itself to a realisation of our smallness as humans in contrast to the infinite, heavenly skies above and this imbues it with a sense of introspection that is highly fascinating. This piece is painted in oils and gold leaf, hand signed by the artist and ready to be displayed.
