Object Description
A pair of antique George III sterling silver dinner plates by Paul Storr which are circular in shape with wavy edges, plain bodies, lovely ribbon-tied reeded borders decorated with grapes and leaves and each resting on a flat base. These wonderful silver plates are from the Lonsdale collection by Paul Storr and were probably sold by Rundell, Bridge and Rundell. There is a crest at the top of each plate with the motto of the Order of the Garter with an Earl’s coronet below. These plates would make useful additions to a Paul Storr collection and remain in excellent condition.
The crests are those of Sir William Lowther who became the 1st Earl of Lonsdale in 1807. He was also made a member of the Order of the Garter in the same year. He lived from 1757 to 1844.
