This piece is an excellent example of Persian rugs woven by hand in the 1890s with an elegant diagonal repeat motif pattern woven with accents of blue, green and beige. This has then been framed by a layered border with cream accents. Both the colour palette and design of this wool rug are suitable for both classic home interiors.
This antique piece was woven in 1890 in Persia, by the Qashqai, a large Turkic group mainly settled in the south-west of Iran. Constructed with fine hand-spun wool and cotton which have been dyed with organic vegetable dyeing techniques that have been used for generations. The materials used are of the finest quality making this piece durable and sure to last for generations if cared for correctly.
