Object Description

This stunning work is based on the famous comedy ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, written by William Shakespeare in 1595 / 96. In the play the beautiful Titania, who is pictured in this painting, is the queen of the fairies and due to a spell cast by Puck, the servant of her husband Oberon, she is enchanted to fall in love with the first creature she sees upon waking.
