Object Description

This very nice crested bright cut engraved George III silver drum teapot was made in London in 1788 by Robert Hennell and measures 3.75 inches to the top by 9.25 inches handle to spout and is 4 inches in dia across the top and base, it has a beaded border to the top and bottom borders with bands of bright cut engraving just above the base, below the top and also around the hinged lid, it also has a flower and leaf design either side of the straight spout, the scrolled handle and finial are fruit wood and it is fully and clearly hallmarked under the base where it also has the date April 1864 engraved, it is crested with a bird of prey and is in very good condition weighing 14.65 ounces or 455 grams.
