Object Description

This fine and rare armorial Charles II lidded porringer was made in London in 1675 by TG in a dotted circle (Page 124 Jacksons) and measures 7.5 inches handle to handle by 4.75 inches high and has a very nice coat of arms to the front and also to the most unusual lid finial, it is decorated to the main body with large embossed and engraved flowers and a lion to one side and a unicorn to the other, it has a patterned scrolled handle either side and is fully and clearly hallmarked under the base and to the rim of the lid, the lid being designed to be able to turn over and sit straight on the table, a fine and unusual porringer in excellent condition and weighing 17.6 ounces or 547 grams.
