Object Description

This very nice William III Britannia silver cannon barrel basting spoon was made in London in 1700 by Joseph Ward and measures 16 inches long. It has a graduated bead rat tail to the top of the stem leading down to the bowl and a good, well defined rat tail to the back of the bowl. The bowl is well formed and fully hallmarked to the side where it also bears the initials G over TA and it is marked with the lions head erased to the handle on the back of the stem, the stem widens as it comes to the end and has a bun shaped finial and it is in very good condition with only minor dings to the handle from use and it weighs 4.80 ounces or 148 grams, a lovely spoon and very useable.
