Object Description
Exceptional quality Regency antique sofa table made of a particularly fine cut of fiddleback mahogany with stringing made of box and ebony woods and with cross banding made from a very dense grained and well figured cut of expensive satin wood. There is more box and ebony stringing around the drawers and sating panels to all four corners of the frieze. The supporting columns are finely reeded and the curved legs are reeded as well. This sofa table really has everything, stringing crossbanding reeding turning, whoever commissioned this must have been minted. This table has end support with out-swept legs which is more desirable, as well as more sturdy, than the sofa tables with centre pedestal support made in the Victorian period. This table is very narrow in depth at only 28 inches it ought to fit in anywhere.
