Object Description
A Romano-Egyptian terracotta frog lamp from the second and fourth century AD. The oil lamp displays a large, decorated ovoid body with a small central filling hole and a burn hole situated on the nozzle. The body is enriched with a floral design exhibiting six petals surrounding the filling hole. A stem-like motif features from the centre down the nozzle with horizontal incisions. The frog lamp sits upon a ring foot inscribed with a central geometric motif or letter, now worn with age.
