Object Description
A large and stunning German Rosenthal art deco lidded porcelain jar and cover hand painted en grisaille with flowering rose stems and dating from around 1935. The large bulbous jar stands on a narrow relief molded edged foot with a rounded body and narrow short neck with a domed hat shaped cover with a large acorn styled finial. The jar is hand painted in wonderful detail in grey tones on a bright deep sky blue ground with rich gilding applied around the edges and to the finial. The cover is similarly decorated. The jar has a green printed mark to the base along with a gilded number 6738 and what appears to be initials.
