This truly exquisite egg is crafted after the notorious bejewelled eggs of Carl Faberge, the famous maker, renowned for creating the spectacular Imperial Easter eggs for the Romanov dynasty. This egg, like the original Imperial eggs, is expertly decorated to both its exterior and interior.
The exterior of the egg is crafted in rich, red guilloche enamel, and is mounted with precious stones, diamonds, gold and silver, with various motifs including Russian Imperial eagles and winged angels, together with the monogram for Tsar Alexander III. The egg is surmounted with with a majestic, silver elephant, and features gold banding around the centre, which opens at a clasp to reveal the interior. The interior features a circular ring of blue guilloche enamel, around a central well, housing a precious cut glass and enamel bottle, mounted with diamonds. The egg is set upon a white enamelled support, and the red base stands upon a square plinth of nephrite jade, which is mounted all around with gold and silver scroll designs.
The egg features gold hallmarks around the base, and is housed in a fitted wooden box, which is marked with the Faberge logo.
