Object Description
A leather and brass Securem Tent Pole Strap with Lantern Hook.
The strap is tightened on a belt, with 7 positions to fix it to the tent pole. The corrugated rubber to the interior also helps it to grip the pole. The longer hook is to hang a lantern and with steel wedge on the strap to balance against the weight of the lantern and prevent it tipping.
The Securem was a useful piece of kit in a tent allowing the user to hang clothing or towels etc. The Army & Navy CSL marketed it to both the military and sportsmen, suggesting it was useful in both cricket and bathing tents. Circa 1900.
The lantern is sold as a separate item and jacket is not for sale.
