These wonderful tables were created in Japan in the late 19th Century. They have been crafted from bamboo and lacquer. Known as ‘nested’ or ‘nesting’ sets, these tables vary in their size so they can be easily stacked. These tables are clever space-savers and beautiful pieces of design.
The tables are of matching design. Each table stands on four bamboo legs which are bound in pairs and linked by a stretcher to the reverse. The tables support rectangular tops, which feature bamboo back panels. These table tops are decorated with beautiful lacquer designs, depicting birds perching on branches, standing near a body of water and in flight.
