Silver-gilt Austro-Hungarian Sword with Islamic Style Engravings

This antique sword is a true collectors’ item, and an exquisitely crafted piece. Cast from silver gilt, the sword has been finely engraved all over its handle and scabbard with intricate Islamic style decoration. Though made in Austria-Hungary at the start of the 20th Century, it was decorated to appeal to the Turkish market. The sword is a fine example of cross-cultural exchange at the turn of the 20th Century. It is set in a red velvet lined wooden case.
